Open 14/08/2025
Minus 2, clear skies and a light NW wind.
Great news, the team worked hard yesterday, and we will have the Poma open today.
Things have stayed nice and cold, so we have some great untracked wintery snow up high still.
Road is open, 2WD will need to fit chains at Branch Creek, 4WD please make sure you carry them.
We have one of our club members entering in the 48 Hour Film Competition this weekend and he is intending to include a James Bond style ski chase, let us know if you want to join in, he is looking for skiers and riders.
Drop us a line if you would like to book a bed in Robinson Lodge.
Don’t forget we have toboggans for hire up here; it is just $20 snow play for the family.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Please note ALL Ski/Snowboard RENTALS and the Shuttle servicer must be organised in Hanmer Springs through
Ski Gear Direct - there is no rental ski or snowboard gear on the mountain.

“New Zealand Club Fields offer a truly unique grass roots, pared back, low key snow experience in huge contrast to the larger resorts of today. It’s our belief that a day on the snow is about who you’re with, where you are and not how hot your gear is! ”
a grassroots snow experience at its best!
Hanmer Springs Ski Area is a friendly, fun ski area just 17km from the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs. From the top of the field there are great views of the surrounding mountains of St James and Molesworth Stations and the distant peaks of the Nelson Lakes National Park.
There are a variety of groomed runs and off piste to choose from for all ages and stages of skill. Slopes can be viewed from the lounge in the Day Lodge so spectators don’t miss out and the beginner’s area is right beside it with excellent open terrain for kids. The ski area is ideal for the family or group of friends for a weekend away with fun filled runs for everyone.
There are three lifts - a Poma, a Rope Tow and the learners area with a Fixed Grip Tow. If you have never used a nutcracker before, Hanmer Springs is a good place to start !
The car park is at the base of the huts and it’s just a short walk to the tows. There are no queues so you can get in as many runs as your body can handle and the tows operate until you want to stop! The cosy mountain accommodation is backpacker style and is self catering, so don’t forget to bring supplies.
To top off a perfect day or weekend in the mountains a soak in the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools will ease the strain on the muscles. The village also has some great Restaurants and Bars, and even a nightclub for those with stamina!
Take a look around…
