Open – Monday 17th
Minus 6, clear and calm, going to be a bluebird day; bring your sunscreen and winter woollies.
We got 20cm out of this storm cycle with a little bit of wind. So some bigger wind-blown pockets of powder about and some spots with a little less on them. The team out last night had a lot of fun.
Plenty of freshies up the top of the Poma once we open this later this morning.
The road is only open to 4WD’s with chains. The road leaving Hanmer Springs is locked; please call the mountain 027 434 1806 to get a code for this. You might fit your chains going up Jacks Pass; otherwise, please fit these at Branch Creek.
Snow play/sightseeing is only $30 per family. No Ski or Snowboard rental gear is held on the field; please see Ski Gear Direct in Hanmer Springs.
Hope to see you soon. 😊We have snow play/sightseeing for $30 per family, and toboggans available for you to use up here.
A Ski/Snowboard rental and a transport service are provided by Ski Gear Direct in Hanmer Springs. Please contact them directly on 027 362 1101 or email skigeardirectnz@gmail.com. NO SKI OR SNOWBOARD HIRE GEAR IS ON THE FIELD.
EVENTS COMING UP……..
BACARDI CUP – 22nd of August
Our iconic novelty race (rules are defined just before start) and dress-ups are encouraged. Just not ones that get tangled in the tow...
CLUB CHAMPS 29th of August
A highlight of the Amuri Ski Club calendar, we will set a course and award our age group champions. This is always a brilliant day! Wax your skis and board and get ready to beat your mates.
Chop Off 29th of August
If you are wondering what the Chop Off is. All you need to do is turn up with a chop to cook. It doesn’t matter if you’re a member or not. Whether it is homegrown, stolen from your neighbour or purchased from your favourite butcher. You just need to cook it, and our judge needs to like it. The competition for this is just about as hotly contested as the club champs. If you can’t beat our President in the ski racing, how about having a better chop than him……
Both these weekends are going to be a lot of fun, so get in quick and book a bed.
Cheers,
Team Amuri

“New Zealand Club Fields offer a truly unique grass roots, pared back, low key snow experience in huge contrast to the larger resorts of today. It’s our belief that a day on the snow is about who you’re with, where you are and not how hot your gear is! ”
a grassroots snow experience at its best!
Hanmer Springs Ski Area is a friendly, fun ski area just 17km from the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs. From the top of the field there are great views of the surrounding mountains of St James and Molesworth Stations and the distant peaks of the Nelson Lakes National Park.
There are a variety of groomed runs and off piste to choose from for all ages and stages of skill. Slopes can be viewed from the lounge in the Day Lodge so spectators don’t miss out and the beginner’s area is right beside it with excellent open terrain for kids. The ski area is ideal for the family or group of friends for a weekend away with fun filled runs for everyone.
There are three lifts - a Poma, a Rope Tow and the learners area with a Fixed Grip Tow. If you have never used a nutcracker before, Hanmer Springs is a good place to start !
The car park is at the base of the huts and it’s just a short walk to the tows. There are no queues so you can get in as many runs as your body can handle and the tows operate until you want to stop! The cosy mountain accommodation is backpacker style and is self catering, so don’t forget to bring supplies.
To top off a perfect day or weekend in the mountains a soak in the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools will ease the strain on the muscles. The village also has some great Restaurants and Bars, and even a nightclub for those with stamina!
Take a look around…
