The Amuri Ski Club was founded in 1957 by a group of farmers
keen on having somewhere in North Canterbury to ski.
The Club
still runs the Hanmer Springs Ski Area (formerly the Amuri
Ski Field) and is affiliated to the Canterbury Snowsports
Association.
The club likes to encourage local families
to enjoy the snow,
and tries to keep membership fees and rates very low.
Applicants for membership must be proposed and seconded
by two committee members of the club. (If the space on the
application form is left blank, you will be telephoned by
one of the committee in
order to get to know you and your
motivation for joining the club.)
